As I was sitting through a successive set of meetings today I had a terrible, disturbing and frightening thought.
What if, for the sake of the argument, our whole life, everything we hold to be true, physical and real, is nothing but someone else’s, continuous, Dilbert cartoon.
The evidence supporting this hypothesis seems to be overwhelmingly conclusive, so let’s examine the facts:
- Is it not true that most people exhibit self centred, uncooperative, and mostly illogical behavior?
- Is it not true that within a project context, when a group of people, any group consisting of more than 1 person, congregates to review project related items, most often than not, these individuals will represent a variety of personal objectives, self induced aspirations, some if not all of which are not in the line with the project’s intent?
- Is it not true that just by looking around, you would ask yourself whether or not this organization is for real?
I’m not ashamed to admit that on all three accounts I would respond with a definitive ‘YES’. And you know what, I now feel much better, as I know that no matter how ridiculously, foolishly or comically I behave, I’ve got no real reason to worry, as we’re all in it together, and my mishaps will nothing compared to yours.
Well, I don’t really mean YOU! But you know what I mean.
Think about it!
