imagine1 ImagineWe live in a wonderful, amazingly advanced world. When I started my professional life I had access to but a fraction of the resources available today. With the Internet not yet invented my ability, and others around me, to extend my knowledge relating to my own professional domain, and other domains around it, was largely based on reading books and magazines, and also, to a lesser degree on interaction with co-workers and peers.

When I look at the massive proliferation of project management related blogs and the massive amount of intellect amassed around them I feel quite humbled. For the uninitiated, having this huge library of documented intellectual property, in almost any subject area one could possibly think of, is a life saving treasure.

But there’s always room for more.

With all the expertise, knowledge and intellect out there, wouldn’t it be great if, as a new project manager, you would be able to get onto the internet and have a free live discussion with a project management mentor. What if y0u could select the person you need to talk to based on a specific knowledge domain. Not sure how to construct a WBS – contact the expert in that field. Have some HR issues – get a mentoring advice from someone with the relevant skill set. Not sure how to best estimate the cost of your project – no problem – an experienced project costing person is available on-line. Have some issues with your stakeholders, communication is falling apart – an organization consultant is there to help you sort things out. Etc. Etc.

Is there any reason why people from any part of the world wouldn’t be able to have access, 24 hours each day, 365 days of the year, to a team of professionals, volunteering their time to assist a fellow professional with a guiding hand and a supporting advice?

I have a dream!

Think about it!
